What are the requirements for the application? How can I apply for the study program?

Which documents are required for the application?

All applicants must provide a valid school leaving certificate, that allows them to study at a university in Germany. For more detailed information about other documents, please visit this page.

What are the costs of application?

There are no costs for applying with a German (or equivalent) university entrance qualification. If you have a non-German university entrance qualification, there are costs associated with applying on Uni-Assist. For more details, please see here.

What are the application deadlines?

If you have a university entrance qualification from Germany (or equivalent), you can apply every year from December 1st to January 15th. If you have a university entrance qualification from another country, you can apply from October 1st till December 15th. More information can be found here.

How can I prepare myself for the interview?

We will provide all the applicants who are invited to the interview with a list of relevant topics at least two weeks prior to the interview.

Do I need German knowledge to study?

Based on your education history, you might have to provide an A1 German certificate upon application. The program is taught entirely in English, for which we require a C1 certificate. You can see more details about the accepted certificates here.

Are there any tuition fees?

THM is a state-funded university. There are no tuition fees. You must pay a semester contribution of about 350€, which includes a public transport ticket for the state of Hesse. More information can be found here.

Are there any scholarships?

There are no scholarships directly associated with the programme. You can apply for scholarships from DAAD or other German or international scholarship providers. An overview can be found here.

Are there any info-sessions or consultation hours, e.g. about applying for a visa?

Do I need to visit a preparatory college (Studienkolleg) in Germany?

Depending on your educational history and country of origin, you might need to visit a preparatory college. Please check your qualifications here or contact us.

Do I need a visa or residence permit to study IBL?

The courses take place on campus in Giessen, Germany. Based on your nationality or legal status, you might need a student visa to enter Germany and a residence permit to study. For more information please refer to the German embassy in your country or contact us.
